Red face What my hobbie is is that.....

    Is this sentence correct?

"What my hobby is is that I love reading stories."

Hi everyone, I know it is right to say "What I did is that I called the police at the right time".It's very usual in everyday speeches to make a sentence by repeating the question. But when it comes to be verbs I don't know how to make a sentence by repeatiing the question. So can someoneone please tell me if my above sentence is correct? If not, what should be the right pattern?

    Why not simplify it?

I love reading stories; it's my hobby.

Hi, I know what you've suggested is the most simplest way. I just wanted to know how to write a sentence repeating the question when the question has only a be verb. Thanks for your suggestion.

If the question is "What is your hobby?" and you want to follow the pattern, reply with "My hobby is reading stories".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

"What my hobby is is that I love reading stories."

Actually, your hobby here is not that you love reading stories. Reading stories is a hobby. That you love to read stories is not a hobby - though it may be an indication that reading stories is one of your hobbies.

But we still have to grapple with "What my hobby is is reading stories." I would call this grammatical.
"What a cat is is a small mammal. A small mammal is what a cat is."

However, be careful not to use this, as is common, in constructions such as, "The reason is, is because ..."
