    like nothing ever went wrong

In the following paragraph, could you please explain the bold part?

"It seemed so insurmountable the fear of what people would say, the fear that just going out in public alone with Zoe would somehow humiliate us both further. But now, here I am, mere days after I decided to build a new life for myself, shopping in the supermarket like nothing ever went wrong."

She found herself shopping like nothing happened. Whatever happened in the past that was embarrassing to her.
