The next morning Henry went to visit his aunt

Could you please check the following paragraph?

"The next morning Henry went to visit his aunt, who had known Dorian well, to get some information about Dorian. Harry found that Dorian’s grandparent was a wealthy and rich man and his mother, who was a very beautiful and lovely woman, ran away from home to marry a poor soldier, who was killed a few months later. She also died soon after his son, Dorian, was born. Harry became more interested than he had been ever in this beautiful young man, Dorian."

    My suggestions.
“Every miserable fool who has nothing at all of which he can be proud, adopts as a last resource pride in the nation to which he belongs; he is ready and happy to defend all its faults and follies tooth and nail, thus reimbursing himself for his own inferiority.”

    Lots of thanks teacher.
I am wondering why in the story books all tenses are defined in a simple past only.

Despite the fact that I haven't read it for over twenty years, I can confidently say that The Picture of Dorian Gray contains many different tenses, not just the simple past.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
