When you do something (that intrigues you) you work a lot

When you do something (that intrigues you) you work a lot. And when the work is finished you come to know whether your endeavor was worth doing or not.

    Please check my sentence.

I would rewrite the sentence as follows:

You work a lot harder when you do something that intrigues you. When the work is finished, you come to know whether your effort was worth it or not.
Experience is recognizing a mistake the second time you make it.
You don't go to an Englishman when you want good pierogi.
