Because the nurse reported the chaotic state

I am wondering if my sentence is grammatically correct.

Because the nurse reported the chaotic state on the ward and the lack of trained staff, she had fallen foul of the management.

    You fall afoul of something.

'fall foul of' is fine in BE.
