Bob and his friends would spend summers by the river

I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

Bob and his friends would spend summers by the river. They would put a crate full of beer into the river and wait until it cooled. Then they would sit in the shade of willow trees, sip their beer and play cards for hours.

I'd move their from the last sentence to the first, before the word summers. I'd also add an Oxford comma after "beer" but many writers and editors wouldn't. Otherwise it's fine.

They're OK but I find the repetitive use of "would" a bit annoying. I suggest changing at least one of them to "used to".
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
