Arrow I went to New York before a week or after a week?

    Hi,
i just want to know "I went to New York before a week or after a week" in this sentence which one is correct before or after.
If both of them are correct then what is the correct way and method to use them with past simple sentence??

    Thanks

Hello IstiyakDhamha, and welcome to the forum.

Let's assume the reference date is 20 June 2017.

If you went to New York on 13 June 2017, say "I went to New York a week before."
If you went to New York on 27 June 2017, say "I went to New York a week after."

If you meant something else, post below.
