Do your children live with you, or are they on their own?

    Hi,

Do your children live with you, or are they on their own?

    Does the sentence sound OK?

    Thanks,

    It's OK.
    I am not a teacher.

I'd find "Do your children live with you or on their own?" more natural.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

You could reduce it to simply asking whether the children live with the person - they could live away from their parents, but not on their own.
