The meaning of the word "thing"

I've heard a lot of expressions using the word "thing", but it hard for me to understand.

    Here are some:

    1. You are really something. (I learned this from my English teacher who said that the sentence kind of means "You are great.")

    2. There's something to be said about... / There's a lot of things to be said about...

    3. I'm a lot of things. (It is said when someone introduce himself.)

I guess the meaning of "thing" above is kind of like something amazing, but I couldn't find the explaining in any dictionary, why???

Here is another example, the dialogue is in the comedy <2 broke girls>:

I'm not a lot of things, but I'm not a quitter.
I feel like it's not smooth enough when consider "a lot of things" as "many roles" , am I right?
Or do you mean that "a lot of things" can either be "something amazing" or "many roles"?

"I'm a lot of things" doesn't mean anything to do with "amazing". It simply means that many adjectives could be used to describe me or that I have a lot of roles in life.

I'm a lot of things - I'm happy, sociable, extrovert, welcoming, and loyal.
I'm a lot of things - I'm sad, depressed, introverted, unwelcoming and disloyal.
    I'm a lot of things - a husband, a father, an uncle, a grandfather and a godfather.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

"You are really something" could also have a negative meaning. It all depends on tone.

Please note I have deleted all those question marks in your original title.

    It's not even a question.
