    At weekends, Michael went out

I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

At weekends, Michael went out in town on the off-chance of meeting a woman of his dreams. He had met a few, but every time his joy quickly turned into another disappointment.

Fine, then ignore that. American and Canadian English use "on weekends".
