    from the movie "flipped"

    Dear teachers and fellow learners,

Here is a line from the movie "Flipped".
Background: The girl likes the boy and brings eggs every morning to the boy's family. Here is the line by the girl that I didn't understand:

" She (means the boy's mom) had been such a good neighbor, lending us supplies when we ran out, giving my mother a ride when our car wouldn't start. It was the least I could do. Besides, if I happened to run into Bryce (the boy), that wouldn't be the end of the world.

Why will she say that. It sounds like "running into Bryce" isn't good or something. I only saw lines like this: Ok this is very bad but it isn't the end of the world.

    Thanks a lot!

I don't know what their relationship entails but you are right. The speaker obviously doesn't like Bryce for whatever reason.

she actually likes the boy very much. Could she be saying one thing but actually means the opposite?

    Thanks for your input!
