    The accused told the court

I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

The accused told the court that at the time the murder was committed he was abroad. However, the prosecutor blew his alibi with a couple of witnesses stating that they saw him in the town.

    RobertJ,

Thank you for your help. I have never before heard the word "arraignment," and it is good to know it. I should have used "defendant" instead.

These terms are from the common law system that prevails in England and the many countries that inherited it from England. Things may work differently in countries with different systems.
