    was wearing/wore

He "was wearing" blue jeans and a coat of the same material. He also "wore" heavy work boots and an old black cowboy hat.
What is the difference between "was wearing" and "wore" in the above sentences? Thanks.

    Re: was wearing/wore

None. The writer (who was the writer, by the way?) wanted to avoid the repetition of 'was wearing'.
