    Red face Has been or was

    Has been' or 'was': Which one should be used in the following contexr?

    1- My father has been/was a good teacher of mathematics he can easily solve this problem.

    Note:- My father is not a teacher anymore. He retired from teaching mathematics sometimes ago.

    I am not a teacher, but I would say WAS.

    My father was a good teacher of mathematics. He can easily solve this problem.

    You should use 'was'.


    The word 'father' seems to be missing from your sentence, which sounds like two sentences by the way.

    Or "used to be".

    My father used to be a maths teacher. He can easily solve this problem.
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
