    Since Martin's mother-in-law moved

I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

Since Martin's mother-in-law moved in, you could feel constant friction in the air. His wife, Gina was like a buffer, mediating between the two when they argued, and trying to preserve peace in the house.

I would put a comma after "Gina" and change "preserve the peace in the house" to "keep the peace".
