    Question figure of speech

    what figure of speech would "The garden is a rainbow of colors" be in the sentance; The garden is a rainbow of colors with over ten varieties of rose bushes and many other flowers such as tulips, merigolds,snapdragons,zinnias, and wildflowers.

    I think there is simile, the garden with its beautiful flowers looks like the rainbow.

    It`s a simile - a figure of speech in which two subjects are compared.

    I'd say it's a metaphor as it doesn't make a comparison but says that one thing is another.

    Yes, you are right , tdol. I haven`t been attentive while reading it.

    I thought it was :" The garden is like a rainbow..." ; in fact it`s : "The garden is a rainbow.."


    If the sentence were "the garden is a like a rainbow.." could it be a simile?

    I don`t know if the previous sentence is grammatically correct; it caused me a real headache

    For me:
    The garden is a rainbow = metaphor
    The garden is like a rainbow = simile
