When we are happy, we are generally happy about something. Thus, you could say;
- He showed his happiness about being there.

1-He showed happiness to be there. (Meaning: He showed that he was happy to be there.)
2-He showed his happiness to be there.

You might also, though less commonly, be able to say 'his happiness on being there'.
