    Nickname

Bill is the nickname of William.
Bob is the nickname of Robert.

Are there other names with nicknames similar to the above that I should take note of as I want to learn more?

    Thanks.

    Re: Nickname

They're not nicknames*, but shortened or diminutive names.

This thread could run and run. To name a few more:

    Nicky/Nick (Nicholas/Nicola)
    Chris (Christopher/Christine)
    Bert (Albert/Herbert/Bertram)

I'll save some for others to tell you about.

*A nickname is something like Lofty or Stretch for a tall guy, and (unkindly) Tubs for a portly person.

    Re: Nickname

Some people might write 'Matt' instead of 'Matthew'.
