    Grammar Michael Jordan quote

A friend of mine says that the quote "Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships" is incorrect. Is he right?

    Welcome to the forum, Frits.

Yes, it is incorrect. Can you see why?

Michael is from New York but he has played in the South as well as in the Midwest so I guess it is acceptable pretty much anywhere in the US.

I would be curious to hear what my fellow Americans think but to me the sentence is correct with "wins" or "win".

When I read that, I thought of this expression:
    http://idioms.thefreedictionary.com/...+wins+the+race

I grew up in the Midwest and then in California. I find either acceptable. With wins, I mentally hear a bit more in the phrase: (Combining) teamwork and intelligence wins the game. I'd probably say wins.

Perhaps this is where BE and AE diverge.
