    Closed thread frustration

A few minutes ago, I spent some time composing a reasoned contribution to a discussion in this thread. When I tried to submit my post, I received a message that the thread was closed. My post simply disappeared. I don't know who closed the thread, or why it was closed, but I am not happy that I wasted my time trying to be helpful.

    Your annoyance is understandable.

I have reopened the thread (though I don't know who closed it).

Wasn't at least most of your post preserved by the Auto-Saved feature?

Apparently not, though my own incompetence in such matters could explain that. Anyway, thanks for re-opening it, I am going back there now to see if I remember what I was going to say,

    Re: Closed thread frustration

Your text is saved every 30 seconds. A yellow Auto-Saved message briefly appears in the bottom RH corner of the typing field to notify you of this.

You can leave the thread at any time and go away to do something else. When you return and click Reply, you will see at the bottom of the typing box Restore Auto-Saved Content (you may have to Go Advanced to see this).

Everybody should try this great feature.

    Re: Closed thread frustration

That's really helpful. I never really knew why the AutoSave existed. I frequently start a response and then realise I want to go off and read a previous post in the thread or re read something, and I always ending up "cutting" the text I've already done, going off to what I need to do, then coming back, starting a new reply and pasting my cut text in.

I'm pretty sure I didn't close that thread. Is it possible that Bassim did, given the final sentence of his last post?
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: Closed thread frustration

It certainly wasn't me! I wonder if it was a system glitch.
