A little girl sat on a jetty

I am wondering if my sentence is grammatically correct. "lolly" is BrE for "lollipop" in AmE.

A little girl sat on a jetty, her feet dangling over the water, licking a lolly.

Re: A little girl sat on a jetty

That sounds like her feet were licking the lolly.

    Would this version be better?

A little girl sat on a jetty, licking a lolly, her feet dangling over the water.
