    to pay attention

Can I say this in English?
He needs to pay attention to get the whole thing/matter sorted out as soon as possible.
Instead of using the phrase "to pay attention", what alternatives do I have?

I don't know if you are asking one question or two, so I will assume you are asking two. In the future, if you do want to ask more than one question, it would be helpful to number your questions/examples.

    1. Can I say this in English? He needs to pay attention to get the whole thing/matter sorted out as soon as possible. Yes you can. The sentence is grammatically correct.

    2. Instead of using the phrase "to pay attention", what alternatives do I have? It's hard to suggest alternatives without knowing what you mean to say. I'm not sure how attention will directly impact the speed of resolving the problem.

    Re: to pay attention

In American English, focus is often used as a shorter substitute for pay attention. It's a bit of a vogue word but I think it may endure.
