    Exhaust fan cord

Could someone please correct these sentences?

I pulled the cord of the exhaust fan to see if it was working. The fan was not moving at all and there is no button to operate it other than the cord.

    Re: Exhaust fan cord

I don't know if this is a difference between the variants, but I would say extractor fan.

    Re: Exhaust fan cord

In Dubai we call this an exhaust fan. I believe both are same.

They do not look exactly the same, though.
    Extractor fan vs exhaust fan.

    Re: Exhaust fan cord

I think of a power cord in that context. I imagine the exhaust fan you have in mind (and that term is natural in American English) is permanently installed and doesn't have a visible power cord.

You might call the string with a knob on the end that you pull to turn the fan on and off the switch cord.
