I think its better to do something than sit here doing nothing.

    1) I think its better to do something than sit here doing nothing.

    2) I think its better to do something rather than sit here doing nothing.

    Please check my sentences.

    They're acceptable. I'd go:

    1) I think it's better to do something than
to sit here doing nothing. OR
    2) I think it's better to do something rather than sitting here doing nothing.

    It is/it's, not "its".

It's an easy typo to make when it's copied from its original text.

Tufguy, you can easily tell whether you need an apostrophe there. If you can replace those three letters with it is or it has, you need one. If you can't, an apostrophe is wrong.

OK, tufguy, so you've proved you can copy. Post #6 simply repeats exactly what Raymott said in post #2. There is no need to simply copy someone else's post. It indicates nothing. If you understood post #2 and have taken the advice on board, simply click Like and/or Thank.

We only need you to write sentences out again if we have just given you hints or advice about how to repair your originals.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

I didn't copy these sentences. I wrote them myself. Yes, I copied my first two sentences and then I amended them. I knew you would think that I copied them.

I wasn't going to use "sitting" in the second sentence because both can be used "sit or sitting" there as far as I know. I used that because Raymott had suggested that and I didn't want him to feel awkward by using "sit" there.

The point is, tufguy, after you have been corrected, you don't have to post the correct answer. I've noticed you often do this. If you get a reply that you're unsure of, look to see if it has any Likes from the regulars and moderators. If so, it's probably correct. We don't need to see you writing the corrected answer.

I'm fine with the original sentences (if "its" is replaced by "it's"). They're very natural in AmE.
