Usage of has been and waa

1- Up until now, there was a lack of Turing-complete smart contract capabilities, but Rootstock will alleviate these concerns.

2- I started in the DA office as an assistant and until now I was a special prison prosecutor.

3- Until now I have been/was there with my friend.

Hi teachers, I found the first two sentences in news articles. I always use present perfect tense with "until now" but after seeing this I am quite confused. 'Was' or 'has been': which one is more appropriate in this kind context?

I asked a ssimilar question on this forum. https://forum.wordreference.com/thre...#post-17080885

The first sentence is wrong. It should be "has been" instead of "was".

In sentence two, "was" should be replaced with "have been".

I think sentence three is a made up sentence. Nevertheless, "has been" should be preferred.

I would say I was a special prison prosecutor until + end date for job.
