1.when we talk about information that was given by a book, what "tense" should we use?

    2. (first sentence) lala have a father.
(answer) the sentence indicate lala have a father.

(when we answer the first sentence what "tense" should we use? past or present? )
(in this sentence, we use "indicated" or "indicate" we are taking about information in the first sentence. and also, in the answer sentence, we use "have" or "had")?

If Lala's father is alive throughout the book, then I would use 'Lala has a father'.
