    she had a commercial

Hi. I do not understand what exactly she was doing with television commercials: advertising herself (her teaching singing), creating a television advertisement or maybe participating in it as an actress? Thank you.
"A client who was 79 came to me. She taught singing, and several of her students were making television commercials. She wanted to do this, too, but was afraid. I supported her totally ... She called several agents and casting directors, and said, I am a senior, senior citizen, and I want to do commercials. In a short time, she had a commercial, and since then shes never stopped working. I often see her on TV and in magazines." (You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay)

OK, but what about: "I am a senior, senior citizen, and I want to DO commercialS.”?

If she called agents and casting directors, then it seems likely that she wanted to take part in commercials. In a short time, she obtained a part in a commercial.
She also apparently became a model for magazine advertisements.

I suppose she means she is an older senior citizen - probably in her 80s.

    Re: she had a commercial

It indicates at the start that she is 79.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
