    versus
    It sounds like she started cooking.

    Are these the same or different? Are they complex sentences?

    The first is incorrect. The second is OK. I don't know whether it counts as "complex" or not.

    The first one is incorrect as GS pointed out.
    The second one is a complex sentence, I think.
