On Sunday morning, Bea's old friend

I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

On Sunday morning, Bea's old friend, Linda use to come around for a round of gossip. This is a ritual none of them want to miss. With a few cups of tea and a lot of cakes and pastries, they go meticulously through the events of the passed days, savouring the latest scandals and stories.

Consider "go over" instead of "go through" in the above.

    teechar,
I used the present intentionally, but you turned it into the past. Was the present not OK in my sentences as they were written?

Re: On Sunday morning, Bea's old friend

But your use of "used to" suggests the events took place in the past.

    teechar,

I made a terrible mistake. I believed that the present of " used to" should be "use to".
I will rewrite my sentence with your corrections.

On Sunday mornings, Bea's old friend Linda comes around for a round of gossip. This is a ritual neither of them wants to miss. With a few cups of tea and a lot of cakes and pastries, they go meticulously over the events of the past few days, savouring the latest scandals and stories.

It would be more natural if it said Linda likes to come over for a round of gossip. This would establish it as a regular activity.

Yes, that's better, as it avoids the inelegant 'come around for a round of gossip'.
