Last night I ate some soup.

I've just read that "eat" is the most common verb when it comes to soup. Is it true? Are the verbs "drink" and "have" also commonly used in everyday English? I infer the same goes with "ice cream".

I eat soup from a bowl and drink it from a mug. I would always eat ice cream.
