Hi,

I wanted to ask if any ESL teachers out there can help with this question. I'm currently teaching at a relatively new English school, teaching English as a foreign language to kids. The problem is how to deal with kids starting mid way through a course being delivered. For example we use "Let's go! - 1,2,3" which has 8 units. These are broken down into maybe 16 lessons. Sometimes we have children joining midway through and have to start with them half way through. We don't have too many students and I teach everyday. Each class has started around the same time, and they visit on the only day they can study each week - the same day. This means we can't move kids around.

So I wanted to know what other teachers do regarding this type of situation.

Thanks, Matt.

Can you break the class into groups to get them working on different things?

Hi

not really we have up to 3 kids doing their studies together and they are all about half way through. Each group comes during the after school period every day.

Thanks for the reply and suggestion appreciated, it’s a headache. Matt.
