Is the above sentence grammatical by using "am"?

We generally avoid having to make tricky choices like this by saying

'Neither you nor I will be going to Japan next month'.

We generally avoid having to make tricky choices like this by saying

'Neither you nor I will be going to Japan next month'.

Actually, I found this sentence from a grammar worksheet that "am" is the answer. That's why I want to clarify.
