    make the book your own

In the Oxford Picture Dictionary, the author says:

My hope is that OPD makes it easier for you to take your
learners from comprehension to communication. Please share your thoughts with us as you make the book your own.

    What does '
you make the book your own' mean?

I'm not a teacher. Please feel free to correct me. :)

    Google found the following:

When you make these kinds of reading notes in the book, you make the book your own.
