    Are these two sentences correct?

    I like the tranquility of the quiet countryside.
    The countryside has a tranquilizing effect on visitors.

    No, the definite article is needed because we are talking about a specific "tranquility", that of the countryside.
    The word "quiet" is not wrong, but it does not really add much in that sentence.

    The word "quiet" is just about redundant there because you've already used "tranquility". You're hardly going to say "I like the tranquility of the chaotic noisy countryside"!
    Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
