Re: which one is the right one?

1. Talking about this, I feel uncomfortable.
2. I feel uncomfortable talking about this.

The participial phrase modifies the subject 'I'.

The participial phrase modifies the subject 'I'.

So do you mean the infinitive can't modify the subject ?

1. I am sitting on a sofa. I feel comfortable.
2. Sitting on a sofa, I feel comfortable.
3. I feel comfortable sitting on a sofa.

There is no place for 'to sit' above.

Thank you very much!

(I am unable to see the Like or Thank buttons. That's why I have added a "Thank you" post.)

Re: which one is the right one?

Dio2, please stop reporting this thread simply because I deleted your "Thank you" message. There is a very good reason for our having a "Thank" button in the bottom left-hand corner of each post. It is so that users can indicate their gratitude for a particular post without wasting everyone's time by adding another response to a thread just to say "Thank you".

If you want to thank anyone, click that button. That is enough.

Re: which one is the right one?

Dio2, I note you have reported this thread yet again today.

I have been trying to send you a Private Message but the system tells me that you have chosen not to accept incoming messages. You have made the requisite 10 public posts so the facility should be open to you. However, since I can't send it, I will have to post publicly the message I've been trying to send you:

... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... __________________________________________________________________________ ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...

Good afternoon dio2

I was disappointed at the rudeness of your report comments (starting "Seriously? Are you blind?") That is not an acceptable way to address anyone on this forum.

I have read the comments in all your reported posts and you did not at any point, until your last comment, mention that you are unable to see the Like or Thank buttons. Had you made that clear in the "Thank you" post you directed at teechar, it would not have been deleted. I'm going to reinstate that post (but I will delete "my buddy" because that is not an appropriate way to address someone you don't know personally), and I am going to add an explanation.

You now need to post in the Support Area so that the forum administrators can try to deal with your problem. Please write a new thread in that forum area, detailing what device you are using, what browser (and version) and, if possible, a screenshot of your view of the forum so they can see what you can see where the Like and Thank buttons should be.

If, for some reason, the admins are unable to advise you how to fix the problem, you can post "Thank you" messages but you will need to start each one with "Please note that I cannot see the Thank or Like buttons". That way, none of the moderators will delete the posts.

Thanks for your attention.
