    I mean, part of me was worried I was being unfair to Sheldon.

    What's the difference if I delete being?

    There's not much difference. If it was one thing you did, you'd probably not use 'being'. Use 'being' if you were doing it over a period of time. But that's only a tendency, not a fixed rule.
