Tool bar for formatting

Can someone help me how to do with the tool bar for formatting?

I highlighted the words and selected "bold", the words didn't change to bold but only some letters popped up next to the words.

Does it happen to any of you too?

    It works for me.

Did you see and ? They are the code for bold, so and will produce and. What device and browser are you posting with?

You're seeing the editor's normal behavior. Rather than presenting the text to you as it will appear on the forum, it shows you the formatting codes that make it look that way. After you click "Post", you'll see the formats you expect.
