    A newly appointed teacher

I am wondering if my sentences are grammatically correct.

A newly appointed teacher tried in vain to calm down the class. The students romped around, shouted, tossed their notebooks in the air, and threw stubs of chalk at each other. She rushed outside in tears, cursing the day she decided to become a teacher.

That's a wonderful description of classroom chaos. Very good!
