At her house, Miss Woolly vistied by Terry and Jack. So she said this words to them:

Sorry about the mess. And it's Kelly, by the way. It's just that I'm on nights this week, so I'm actually not long out of bed.

What is the meaning of "not long out of bed"?

Does it means "she just woke up from bed"?

To keep the "not long" part of it, it can be rewritten as "I have not been up for long".

Kingston, the book you're reading is written in a very casual, conversational kind of English. It may not be the best choice for your current level.

Also, Kingston, please be aware that if you have more than five open threads on the first title page, you are in danger of having some of them deleted for what we call 'flooding', especially if a number of other members have been waiting for answers for a while.

That's OK, but please keep an eye on your own posting frequency.
