That's the way it was. That's the way it will be.

"That's the way it was. " "That's the way it will be." these sentences seem frequent ones , but in what kind of situations can we use? Thanks.

Re: That's the way it was. That's the way it will be.

Both of these sentences are used to express certainty, either about events in the past or future.

"I never called her again. I never wanted to. That's the way it was."

"I'm not buying you a new computer. You'll have to earn the money and buy it yourself. That's the way it will be."

The last sentences add finality and certainty to the other two.

You would use the "That's the way..." phrase to dispel doubt and to add force and finality to what you're saying.

    Hi, Yoshi

Someone explains something that already happened and he ends with the words :That`s the way it was = That`s what I heard about that situation = That`s what I saw with my own eyes = I know it was the way I tell you because I saw it / I heard about it = I am certain about it.

Situation : A car accident on highway . The police are coming. They ask the witnesses about the accident. Someone says he saw the whole accident, tells the police how it happened and then ends with the words : That`s the way it was. I am sure because I saw it.

That`s the way it will be = That`s the way things will be . That`s how things will be.
