    Depends upon the context. There are certain types of can openers (like those used to open a canned ham or a can of Spam) that are also called "church keys."

    Back in the days before pop-tops and twist-off caps, if you wanted to drink beer outside your home you needed a tool with a bottle opener (cap lifter) on one end and a can punch (piercer) on the other. Forty years later, I still have the same churchkey in my glovebox that I had in my '62 Impala (although now it's just there for sentimental reasons).
