    Would you please help me?

Would you please help me? Would you please correct my email? I don't know rabbi X personally and I'll write him for the first time. I'd like to be respectful and polite. Is it correct way to show my respect using the word "dear"? Thank you for your help!

    Dear Rabbi X,

Peacemakers paid today $6500 to the Bank of England (IBAN GB124345-67890) for the peace camp.

    Sincerely,

    Laura X

    Welcome to the forum.

See my suggested changes above. It's fine to use "Dear XXX" at the start of a formal letter/email.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
