Hello,

You test, test to see with the boat’s going against what you want to go. It's not going where you want to go, so you need to make an adjustment to make an operation. So you swing the tiller lightly. And you test again. Are you now on course if are you can exit for the time being or are you need to keep monitoring where you're going.

The above is my dictation on a MP3 file about hypnosis. The speaker is using a metaphor about boat for hypnosis. I have a question on this piece I am listening to.

I think I listened that correctly about "are you can" and "are you need". I'm not quite sure, so I need to have the confirmation first. I didn't do a lot of listening like this before. If I'm correct, it is acceptable to say like that?

The grammar I learnt is "Can you exit" and "Do you need"...

Thanks in advance!
