To the question "What does 'If you can't run with the big dogs, you'd better stay on the porch' mean?" the answer provided is "If you can't keep up with what others are doing, then it is best not to attempt it." This is precisely the wrong answer.
In common usage this phrase is used as a challenge, suggesting that one should take chance or get out of their comfort zone. It is never used as a warning that one should steer a safer course.
C'mon UsingEnglish: "Get off the porch" and change this answer!
