    A study in Scarlet

    What does this title mean.
Let's change scarlet to Red. Do you think "A study in Red" means "A Red Study"?

It's usually used as a title in the artworld - meaning a painting where red is the predominant colour.

In the famous Sherlock Holmes novel by Arthur Conan Doyle, the scarlet in the title refers to the blood at the scene of a mysterious murder.
