1. ## bought Bitcoin profit

I've asked a question on other forum if this sentence is correct to say
If I bought Bitcoin on December 14 2018 - I would be in the profit now.
1. If I would buy Bitcoin on December 14, 2018 - today I would be in the profit.
2. If I bought bitcoin in December 14 2018 - now I would be in the win.
3. If I had bought Bitcoin on December 14, 2018, I would have benefited from it now.

For me the answer number 3 sound most natural. What would you say, which one of these is grammatically correct to say?
Thanks.

2. ## Re: bought Bitcoin profit

Which other forum(s) have you asked this question on? Is that where you got the above answers from?
Have you learned the third conditional? Do you know when and how to use it?
Finally, we say "make a profit" to describe such situations.

Note also that I have changed the title by including keywords from your post. Thread titles should be representative of the question asked.]

3. ## Re: bought Bitcoin profit

I have asked this question here (this is a Russian Q&A forum). Yes, I learned about 3rd conditional some time ago, but haven't used since then . I have doubts about 1 answer. Can I really say If I would.... in the past time? The third answer with 3rd conditional seems most correct to me.

4. ## Re: bought Bitcoin profit

1 and 2 are wrong. You need a third conditional.

If I had bought Bitcoin in December 2018, I would be in profit.

------

Isn't that a mixed conditional?

As I understood the 3rd conditional would imply past result of imaginary past action/situation
as if I had bought Bitcoin I would have been in profit before now
and the mixed conditional would imply present result of imaginary past action/situation
If I had bought Bitcoin I would be in profit now, at this moment?
Please correct me if I got it wrong.

8. ## Re: bought Bitcoin profit

You can use the mixed conditional as suggested by jutfrank above, or you can use the third conditional with "make a profit" as I suggested. Try that and post below.
