    damn cheek!

Hello everyone - new here - just wondering if anyone knows the origin of the expression 'brass nerve'?
I used it recently on another Forum, and someone told me it was Yiddish slang. I knew it meant damned cheek, that's why I used it! but wondered where/how it originated.....?

"Brass nerve" is British English. The Yiddish word for that phrase would be "chutzpah."
