what is the differnce between reward and rewards? Even thought I looked up the dictionary, the meaning is not clear to me. Can anybody give me an example and explantion?
A reward is something that you are given, for example because you have behaved well, worked hard, or provided a service to the community.
The rewards of something are the benefits that you receive as a result of doing or having that thing.
In 1, it means the company got some knid of an award or certificate for being the topper. It is a reward.
- "The company got a reward for being the No. 1 in steel production".
- "The company is now reaping the rewards of their investments".
In 2, it means the comapny invested a lot, became the topper, and now it is enjoying a superior position, getting more profit etc. These are the rewards.
To generalise it, you can say, a reward is the recognition or prize you get for something.
Rewards are the good results you get from something you have done. I tis not a thing, it is an outcome.
