The sentence above is meant to illustrate how the word either can be used and pronounced.
Do you think it's a good example? Have I used the correct IPA symbols?

Is "You can /i:ðər/ say /aɪðər/ or /i:ðə/, /aɪðə/ way is correct" any better?

I want to "choose sides" rather than include the optional, bracketed "(r)". I want to make the difference apparent by juxtaposing rhotic and non-rhotic pronunciations in one sentence.


On second thought, maybe "You can /i:ðər/ say /i:ðə/ or /aɪðə/, /aɪðər/ way is correct" would illustrate it better.

That makes it seems as if learners can choose freely between rhotic and non-rhotic forms on every occasion. That would lead to unnatural language.

I guess you're right.
