    our main responsibility

    Hi.

I recently joined a volunteer group; I’m going to be a volunteer next month. I asked the person who in charge a question, I said:

    What is our main responsibility?

I want to know what the volunteers mainly need to do. Is my sentence natural?

    Will this time be better?

    Re: our main responsibility

Sorry, I misread the post. I am sorry.

I asked the person who in charge a question. I said:
    Please check.

Yes, it is! However, it is the type of question a person would ask before volunteering, not afterwards.

I didn't ask the question afterwards, Tarheel.

When I met the person in charge, I asked him.

    Re: our main responsibility

You still haven't deleted the colon! In another thread recently, I showed you a better way to lay out your posts so that you could avoid this problem. Do you remember? It avoided putting the sentence you're asking us about on a separate line.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.

    Re: our main responsibility

1)Do you mean the colon in the OP? Teechar asked me not to change the things in the OP because others who read my threads will not understand. If you mean the colon in the OP, I'll delete it as soon as possible. I am not trying to upset all of you here, teachers. I really just want to learn English.

2)If you mean "I should write short sentences to avoid the comma splices problems", I'll try to do that next time. But if it's not, would you please send me the link of the thread you mentioned, or would you please tell me what I should do?

    Re: our main responsibility

We're not asking you to delete it from post 1, but you repeated your sentence in posts 3 and 5 and the colon appeared in both of them! When we say something like "Delete the colon", we mean that we want you to write a new post, with a new attempt at your piece but without the colon.
Remember - if you don't use correct capitalisation, punctuation and spacing, anything you write will be incorrect.
